Fixed in git in the branch for Bullseye, commit 43ba408e.

(The ^V ^Y ^Y issue looks unfixable.)

Forgot to mention: the original fix -- a window_init() plus a draw_all_subwindows() -- caused bug #61194, which was far worse than the problem that that code remedied.

Well, the original problem can be worked around with a wrefresh(edit) pluse full_refresh().  But the same trick does not help when running 'nano +14,101 /etc/mke2fs.conf' and then typing: ^V ^Y ^Y.  Where is the cursor?  Typing ^L brings the cursor back in this case.  But I can't figure out what to do here to defeat Slang's stupidity.  And I can't be bothered anymore -- I have done enough.

To reproduce, download a Debian netinstall ISO [1], dd it to a USB stick, and boot from it.  Then choose the plain Install (/not/ the Graphical Install) and choose "Go Back" as soon as you can.  Then pick the penultimate item ("Execute a shell") in that menu.

Then run 'nano +14,101 /etc/mke*'.  See that the current line is horizontally scrolled.  Press <Left> a few times, until the line scrolls back.  Oops: the cursor is gone.  Press <Right> several times.  When the line is horizontally scrolled again, the cursor is visible, but as soon as the cursor goes to the next line, it becomes invisible again.  :|  Sigh...
